Nanotechnology Applications in Ophthalmic Tumors

Author(s): Stylianos Mastronikolis*; Marina Pagkalou; Efstathios P Efstathopoulos

Nanotechnology is the scientific branch that deals with the synthesis and application of nanoparticles (NPs), which are cellular or synthetic structures with at least one dimension in the range of 1-1000 nm. In Nanomedicine, NPs can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, because of their nano-size and the diversity of chemical properties and composition [1]. There is a wide variety of NPs, such as liposomes, nanospheres, dendrimers, hydrogels, nanoemulsions, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, polymeric, magnetic NPs, inorganic NPs, such as Gold-NPs and Silver-NPs, and peptide-based NPs.

Preparation of Nanolayered Silicate and its Applications in Rubber Composites

Author(s): Wang Jincheng*; Gong Ting; Yang Ke; Tang Keya

As a type of nanolayered silicates, montmorillonite (MMT) belongs to monoclinic system, which is generally irregular flake. Its color is white with light gray, sometimes with light blue or light red, and the luster is dim. It has strong adsorption capacity and ion exchange capacity, as well as high colloid, plasticity and adhesion.
