Inflammatory bowel disease is due to complex biological response of body tissues in colon and small intestine. Most common diseases are Crohn's disease, and Ulcerative colitis. The reason of IBD is unknown but Genetics and immune system problems are associated in formation.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of chronic disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which two main types are Crohn´s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). The exact causes of IBD still remain unknown but are accepted to be multifactorial. For this reason, the use of animal models of IBD is gaining importance in preclinical research to clarify the pathogenic mechanisms of the disease and evaluate the therapeutic potential of new compounds. Non-invasive imaging techniques commonly used in clinical practice have also demonstrated their usefulness in the characterization of these animal models, since repeated evaluations can be carried out on each living animal over time....
